Sunverge Named to Global Cleantech 100 List

Energy storage pioneer recognized for innovation and impact on the market

SAN FRANCISCO (January 25, 2016) – Intelligent energy storage leader Sunverge Energy today announced it has been named to the 2015 Global Cleantech 100, a comprehensive list of the most innovative and promising private companies in cleantech. Sunverge earned its place on the list from a field of 6,900 companies from 60 countries.

Produced by Cleantech Group, the Global Cleantech 100 recognizes companies that are best positioned to solve tomorrow’s clean technology challenges and have the greatest impact on the market.

“We’re honored to be included on the prestigious Cleantech 100 list,” said Ken Munson, co-founder and CEO of Sunverge Energy. “We set out from day one to bring innovative and market-expanding thinking to renewable energy. Our goal is to provide our utility and solar provider customers with grid-quality storage and a highly intelligent control platform that will have a significant impact on their businesses and on the reduction in global carbon emissions.”

Selection to the list is based on the results of Cleantech Group research data, with weighted qualitative judgments of hundreds of nominations, and specific inputs from a global 100-person Expert Panel. To qualify for the list, companies must be independent, for-profit, cleantech companies that are not listed on any major stock exchange. Previous winners include Tesla, Silver Spring Networks, Opower and Nest.

This year’s record 6,900 nominations were culled to a short list of 323 companies that then were reviewed by Cleantech Group’s Expert Panel to produce the final list. The 100-member expert panel was drawn equally from leading financial investors and representatives of multi-national corporations and industrials active in technology and innovation scouting across Asia, Europe, and North America.

“Energy Storage is the breakout category of the 2015 Global Cleantech 100, exciting our innovation community for its future potential,” said Michele Parad, Senior Manager at Cleantech Group and lead author of the Global Cleantech 100 Report. “Sunverge, a newcomer to the list, impressed us for having benefits for both the consumer and the grid, and for their ability to capture solar power and deliver it when needed most.”

The complete list of 100 companies was revealed on January 25th at Cleantech Forum San Francisco and a full report with commentary and insight on the 2015 Global Cleantech 100 is available at here.
